The Small Business Commissioner has welcomed new measures to reduce the regulatory burden on small businesses, following the Government’s acceptance of the majority of recommendations developed through its Regulatory Taskforce. The recommendations aim to make it easier for small firms to do business, including simplifying access to public contracts, reducing data requests and improving access to government support and guidance. As part of the Taskforce, Small Business Commissioner Emma Jones has focused on the case for a Single Business ID, designed to reduce friction for business owners when applying for finance, contracts and carrying out day-to-day business.
Emma Jones, Small Business Commissioner, said:
“From the day it was launched, the Regulatory Taskforce has moved at pace to identify specific regulations that get in the way of small business growth, and, for my part I have focused on a Single Business ID that would reduce friction for founders when applying for finance, contracts, and going about their business. In our day to day work at the Office we are on a mission to make life easier for small firms and, in that vein, we fully support the recommendations of the Taskforce.”
