A small procurement advisory business was contracted to supply their services to a large multi-national company.

A complaint was submitted to the Office due to non-payment of a final invoice- which amounted to £208K.

The complainant expressed: “We urgently require your assistance in this matter as it is severely impacting our cash flow and we are potentially facing bankruptcy.”

The Office of the Small Business Commissioner was able to take on the complaint however, the multi-national was resistant to co-operate.  Small Business Commissioner, Paul Uppal, personally offered to meet with the large business in a bid to resolve the complaint. Upon suggestion of the meeting, the outstanding invoices were speedily paid in full.

The small business owner personally thanked the Commissioner, and communicated how the involvement of the Office prevented their business filing for bankruptcy.
