A journalist invoiced a publishing company for three different jobs on June 10 and 21 in 2022. They emailed the accounts department contacts listed by the publisher numerous times: starting in late August to chase the still unpaid invoices and finally submitting invoices for compensation and interest (as per the Small Business Commissioner website) in mid-November. Again, hearing nothing, they eventually contacted the Small Business Commissioner on 30 Dec 2022.
Despite it being the Christmas break, the case was pursued immediately and full payment received – including for compensation and late interest – by 9 January 2023.
