The Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), the world’s leading professional body for accounting technicians, has received a Fair Payment Code Award.

Accounting technicians are key players in making sure that businesses get paid on time and in joining the Fair Payment Code the AAT has publicly committed to fair payment principles in their own organisation.

AAT’s CEO, Sarah Beale said:

“We know that over 1.5 million businesses are affected by late payments. This causes 38 businesses to shut down every day as SMEs struggle with cashflow challenges.   Timely payment isn’t just good practice – it helps businesses stay afloat, builds trust and supports growth. We’re proud to have joined the Fair Payment Code and have recently earned the Bronze Award as part of our ongoing effort to promote responsible business practices.

The AAT Code of Professional Ethics remains the foundation of both our membership practice and our products, including our new Level 4 Diploma for Professional Accounting Technicians, which launches in September 2026. Within this qualification students are empowered to explore business ethics, including the impact of late payments. This insight will strengthen their reputation as trusted professionals who champion fairness and integrity to best support business.’’
