Senior Sector Adviser, CBI

Tim is Senior Sector Adviser, Construction & Housing at the Confederation of British Industry (CBI). The CBI is the UK’s leading business organisation, and speaks on behalf of more than 190,000 business across the UK.

At the CBI, Tim leads on payment practices and payment policy, building on his experience of the issue in the construction sector. Tim works with member businesses of all sizes, across every sector of the economy, to drive progressive action on prompt, reliable payment practices. Tim also works closely with business representative organisations and trade bodies.

He established the CBI’s relationship with the Office of the Small Business Commissioner when it was launched, and has worked closely with successive Commissioners. Tim also works with teams in Cabinet Office and the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy to collaboratively develop payment practices policy. This has included collaborating on Public Procurement Notices, Prompt Payment Code reform, and actions to create a responsible payment culture.

Tim has been at the CBI for three and half years; he previously spent seven years at business media titles City A.M., Construction News and Health Service Journal in digital strategy roles.
